8 years ago I was in recovery after having a c-section to deliver my son. I remember on that day being so excited to meet the newest member of our family. He was precious then and he still is now. He brings laughter to my life. His dimples melt my heart everytime he smiles. All month he has been counting down the days until his birthday. He came in my room Saturday night and said, “Mom do you know how many days it is until my birthday?”

Me: How many?

Craig: Two more days!

Me: Really? I can’t believe that you will be 8 years old in jsut 2 more days! I remember when I held you cradled in my arms.

Craig: And now I am going to be 8 and now I can play video games.

I love that kid. Today he took chocolate chip cookies from the Publix bakery to school to share with his classmates. His grandma also went to school to eat lunch with him today. We all just had a yummy chocolate cupcake that Grandma made for him today. On Memorial Day he will see his dad and the other set of grandparents to celebrate his birthday.

8 years ago my life changed forever as I became the mother of a son, the mother of three beautiful children. 8 years ago I could only imagine what he would be like as a boy growing into a man. My prayer as he continues to grow is that he will become the man that God wants him to be.

I love you Buddy!!! Happy 8th Birthday Craig!

We welcomed our second child into our family. What a blessing she has been to us over the past 10 years. She is smart, funny and stubborn (I can’t imagine who she gets that from, no not me…lol). She is one of the most artistic people that I know. I know that the Lord has great things planned for her.

Bug, I just wanted to wish you a very Happy 10th Birthday!! I am sad that we could not be together on your birthday but I know that we will have a blast at your party next weekend. You are a very special little girl and I am so glad that I get to be a part of your life and watch you grow up into a beautiful young woman.

Ok on a not so sappy note, I am so glad that it is Friday!! The month of December seemed to drag by as far a work was concerned with all of the “voluntary” time off. I am ready to work a full 40 hours week and have the money in my bank account to prove it. The calls at work have been interesting and never dull so that does help the day go by faster. On a good note I did not get yelled at today. That is always a good thing.

Well tonight is my last night of eating dinner alone. My kids come home from my in-laws house tomorrow. The place has been so quiet without them home. I get two days to enjoy thme, then back to school and the crazy busyness of life.

Happy Birthday

This past Thursday was my oldest daughter’s 11th birthday. I can’t believe that she is 11 already. It seems just yesterday that we were excited to be bringing her home from the hospital. Now she is a 5th grader, has a great sense of humor and is talented in many ways. I feel so blessed to have her in my life. Becoming a mom 11 years ago really did change my life, and for the better. I have learned so much from having her and my other kids in my life.

Saturday we had a party for her at my parent’s house. She decided on a luau theme for her party. She was surrounded by both sets of grandparents, two sets of great-grandparents, her uncle, a cousin and my best friend’s family (all 6 of them, who are part of the family too). My very talented step-mom made her a flip flop cake (it was so cute). Both girls made decorations for the house. We had lots of yummy food. I still can’t get over how good the steak and chicken kabobs were! They were marinated in teriyaki and oh so yummy.

The adults had a great time chatting and eating all of the delicious food. While all 7 kids had a great time playing the Wii and just being together. I am so glad to be back among those people that I love the most. It made celebrating my daughter’s birthday that much more special. While the road to get back to where we started has not always been an easy one, I am so glad that we have been able to come home. Being with my family means so much to me.

I will post pictures of the party later. I have not even had time to upload them to the computer yet. Time to get my school work for the week done. Tomorrow starts my second week of taking phone calls at work. The first week went really well and I got a compliment from my supervisor on Friday as I was leaving for the day. I’m praying that the second week goes just as well.

We are ready

I think we are ready. We have had a busy couple of days so I have not had time to write. We went on Tues to see if we could find another pair of shoes for each of the girls. The dress code at school says NO SANDALS. So we figured they needed a little variety in their sneakers. Anyway my middle daughter found a pair rather quickly. But shoe shopping with my oldest has never been an easy task, umm it is one of my least favorite tasks. Right up there with going to the dentist and doing laundry. She never did find a pair that she liked.

Weds we took the kids to have physicals done for school. They are all healthy. My son made us laugh when the doctor told him to touch his toes and instead of bending over to touch them, he lifted up his leg and stretched out his arm to touch his toes. After we were done we took all the paperwork to school and got them all registered for school.

Yesterday was meet the teacher day at school. All of the teachers we met are very nice. I think the kids will have a very good year. We got all the directions for how to do pick up for car riders. There was even a map of how to drive around the parking lot so that the traffic flows properly. My brother even went along with us so that he could check out the school too.

Yesterday was also my brother’s 20th birthday. So some more family came for a yummy dinner of baked Ziti and meatballs with cake and ice cream for dessert.

Today my step-mom and I went back to Sears to return one of the shirts we bought last week that we discovered after we got home had a defect in it. We then looked around and in the junior’s dept (I can’t believe that my girls can actually wear junior’s sizes, I am not ready for this yet!! lol) We found these cute little summer dresses that were on clearance for $9.99 according to the sticker. When we went to the register it rang up for $3.99 so we went and found another one. Can you believe that?? The original price of the dresses was $42. So two dresses for a total of $8.50!!!

Tomorrow I will get all of the school supplies out and sort them all by child and get backpacks ready for school. Maybe I will also see if I can get the kids to pick out what they want to wear on the first day of school.

I was tired before I started typing but now that I have read back over all we did this week I am really tired. So now I think I will go to bed.

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Buddy!! Today my little man is six years old. Six years ago we were living in FL so all the family was able to be at the hospital when he was born. He was born by a scheduled c-section so we went to the hospital at the appointed time. Everything was nice and calm, no rushing around. Things did end up taking longer and my surgery got pushed back for other mommies that were in more critical situations. But finally around 4 in the afternoon they took me back. And at 4:50 pm we had our little boy. He had a little bit of trouble breathing when he was born so I did not get to hold my sweet little boy until the next morning. But from the first moment I held him, he has had me wrapped around his little finger. As he has grown these six years his cuteness has not changed. His dimples can melt my heart in an instant. Even when he is sitting in church and not doing what he is supposed to be doing and I am giving him the evil eye from the choir loft, he still has that quality about him that just makes you want to squeeze him tight.

I shared back in Sept where his name came from and I think that Craig Stamper would be proud of the little boy named after him. There are many days that when I look at my little boy I am reminded in some way of Bro. Craig.

You are very special to us Steven Craig!! We love you very much! Happy 6th Birthday!!
